Uncle Dicks Martinis
(Patrick Gallagher)
Everyone knows of a go-to party guy. In my family, that’s my Uncle Dick. Dick lives out in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where my mom is from. My family sometimes has summertime family reunions out at a place called Pelican Lake, Wisconsin. There, he always makes his famous martinis for everyone all day long. We end up by the fire at the end of the day, buzzed, and singing together badly. I wrote this one and played it for the first time for everyone there. I actually had Dick sing on the studio version over the phone, in his usual baritone voice.
Lyrics
Here comes Uncle Dick now, in black socks and plaid shorts
And he’s hiding a wore out black leather box underneath his arm
Just one jigger of vermouth, just two jiggers of gin
Turn your frownin upsidedown, make you bulletproof man
Uncle Dick’s Martinis
Uncle Dick’s Martinis
Uncle Dick’s Martinis
Now if your smoking cigars and playing poker
Or sleepin down by the lake
Well it don’t matter where your hiding,
There’s one thing you cannot escape
Uncle Dick’s Martinis
Uncle Dick’s Martinis
Uncle Dick’s Martinis
He’s got two good olives for eyeballs
A pimento for a nose
Aunty Dorothy has lost composure
Dick, gimme another one of those
Uncle Dick’s Martinis
Uncle Dick’s Martinis
